James is the son of Bob and Sue McGill and claims he fitted his first fireplace with his Dad aged 5. Growing up he started working Saturdays in the showroom whilst doing his GCSEs at Colston’s School and then studying Art and Design at Filton College. After leaving college he started working at the Fire Basket full time and in 2000 became a Director. Considering his parentage, it is not surprising that James has expert knowledge on all things fire related. His speciality is designing bespoke fireplaces and creating unique solutions for customers. He works with builders and architects using his vast knowledge of products to decide which one is best to solve a specific problem. He is able to use his artistic skills and computer aided design to recreate the layout of a customer’s home so they have a clear visual representation of what the final product will look like in situ. He is often out doing site surveys and if a problem does occur he will be the one to solve it. He is always looking for ways to improve the business and enjoys looking for new products. Woodburning stoves have seen a resurgence in popularity in recent times James wasted no time in learning all about them and now has a real passion for bringing them into peoples homes.
James is a film buff and knows pretty much everything there is to know about James Bond and Star Wars. He loves drawing and making things and always has a “project” on the go. He enjoys running and took part in “Tough Mudder" this year with a team of his friends. He is a devoted husband and Dad to his two children and loves creating adventures and memories with his family.
